Hot day, good friends
Today was hot, so it was good that we spent the afternoon playing with water. We splashed, sprayed, and dunked, and cooled off for at least an hour. After we dried off our art teacher came and helped us draw cheeseburgers. They looked yummy enough to eat. Tomorrow we are going to Ortega. If you want to play in the water make sure to bring a towel. Also bring a water bottle and sunscreen, we're going to be outside!

Today was hot!
What a warm summery day! Our plants sure appreciated their drink of water this morning. The bush beans have sprouted and are growing leaves, and the tomatoes have bright yellow flowers ready to be pollinated so they can turn into a beautiful red tomato.
Today we did some really great writing in our journals. There were stories about weekend camping adventures that sounded like lots of fun. We also began writing our super cool ultra huge writing project as a class. Be looking for invitations to our first publishing party.
Tomorrow we will be doing some water play, and Wednesday we are walking to the park. Bathing suits/extra clothes and towels are recommended for both trips. Speaking of trips, this Friday is our famous Great America adventure. Can't wait to see you all there!

Swimming
It was quite the adventure finding a swimming pool that would let us in today, but when we finally found ourselves at Blackberry Ranch we had a great time. Everyone got in the pool, even Miss Kristina! And she only got a little sun-burnt. Tomorrow we are going minigolfing, so remember to wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen.

First Sports Day!
Today was the first Sports Day of the summer. We played "Clean up your Backyard" with a twist: hula hoops that protect the bean bags inside them. If a bean bag fell in the hula hoops, you can't pick it up, it's stuck there. Even though Miss Kristina struggled to keep up after donating blood yesterday, everyone seemed to have a great time.
We wrote in our journals today too. We're getting the writing juices flowing for our super-secret ultra writing project this summer. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
After lunch we played some of our old favorites: clothespin tag, deer tail tag, mafia, and relay races. We also did some more drawing in our sketchbooks.
Tomorrow there will be a magic show, Thursday we're going swimming, and Friday we are going minigolfing. What a fun packed end of the week we have in store!

Making Calendars
Today we played red light-green light, wrote in our journals, and decorated our calendars! The calendars look great hanging on our walls. they're so colorful and filled with all the fun things we're going to do this summer. We learned a song to sing about the date so we can enjoy reading our calendars. We are all looking forward to seeing all out friends over the next few days. I've missed you all!

I can't Believe it's tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the first day of the summer school age program at Good Sam! I'm very excited, and I hope you are too. I have some great activities planned, plus we need to give our garden a little TLC. It's looking pretty sad after a whole winter of neglect. I can't wait to see you all! I've missed all of you so much. See you tomorrow!

Gearing Up for Summer
This beautiful weather sure is a welcome relief after all that rain. It's got me thinking about summer! I'm planning lots of fun activities and projects for this summer, not to mention all the great field trips! This summer the theme will be Writing for Fun and Friends. We'll write a weekly newsletter as a class, and a surprise, epic, amazing, exciting, full summer project! We're also going to do some great science. Do you know what a triop is? We'll find out!
If there are any projects, topics, or activities in particular that you would like to see this summer please let me know! I want this summer to be not only educational and enlightening, but also fun and interesting. Is there a topic that you learned about in school that you loved? Would you like to play teacher? Some of our older friends are fully capable of taking on a leadership role in our classroom, and I would love to see some craft projects, games, or lessons taught by our budding future world leaders. Just let me know what you'd like to do so I can fit it in the schedule.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again!
